Within the past five years, charter schools in Washtenaw County and beyond have drawn students from Ann Arbor Public Schools in growing numbers.
In the 2009-10 school year, 1,093 students living within the Ann Arbor Public Schools district attended a charter school, compared to 1,331 students in the 2012-13 school year, according to state data.
The number of charter schools that Ann Arbor students have sought out has increased as well.
Meanwhile, initial enrollment projections for Ann Arbor Public Schools in the 2013-14 school year indicate a drop of about 210 students.
